This free event will showcase a 24-minute work sample for an exciting forthcoming documentary Sign My Name to Freedom, a feature-length film about Betty Reid Soskin that takes her famed work as the country's oldest national park ranger as a jumping off point, and then explores her hidden life as a singer/songwriter in the 1960s, and her family's experiences confronting Jim Crow style workplace and residential housing segregation in the Bay Area.
Though she kept her life as a singer-songwriter hidden for more than 50 years, Betty, 102, wants to share that work, and her autobiographical songs, with the world during her lifetime.
In addition to previewing a work sample of the film, come for a Q&A with Director Bryan Gibel and other members of the team (on zoom), hosted by Film Producer and Lake Tahoe local Sara Lafleur-Vetter (in person). You can also help ensure the project reaches completion through this crowdfund campaign.
Don't miss this opportunity for a sneak peak at a documentary in progress that sheds light on the struggles and triumphs of iconic Betty Reid Soskin.
